The Dos Rios Ranch Preserve in Modesto, Calif., where the Tuolumne and San Joaquin rivers meet, was officially dedicated as California's 281st state park on Earth Day.

The 1,600-acre park, surrounded by almond orchards and dairy pastures, offers opportunities for hiking, picnicking, and future swimming and boating access.

The park, located between Highway 99 and Interstate 5, is a significant addition to the Central Valley, providing a return to a lush natural landscape and serving the local community.

The restoration project, led by River Partners, aims to recharge groundwater and support water supply in California.

Public engagement will shape the future development of the park, offering a unique opportunity to experience the Central Valley's ancient landscape.
